President Obama is very bright. He is probably the smartest man in the room many times.

When we were teenagers or better yet, sophmores at unversity, many of us thought we were the smartest man in the room. We debated many topics and often assumed radical or idealistic positions in discussions because we were sincere about causes or we just liked to debate. As we look back, perhaps we are thankful that even if we were the smartest man in the room, we did not have the power to force our solutions on the world.

Whether you agree or disagree with President Obama on the many subjects he has raised in his almost 2 years of office, it matters not. What should concern you is that he truly believes he is the smartest man in the room on all subjects. As President he has the power to force his solutions on the world.

According to Frank Caine:

ADVICE FROM A RETIRED HUSBAND:

It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there’s nothing worse than an oversensitive woman.

My name is Jim. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Terri. When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for Terri to get a full-time job along with her part-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work.

Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner.. I don’t yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men’s Grill at the club so eating out is not reasonable. I’m ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it’s not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner.

I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won’t clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed.

Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, boys, we take ‘em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won’t have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn’t hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points.

When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half-finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I’m a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while.. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me too.

I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Terri. I’m not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile After all, we are put on this earth to help each other.

Signed,
Jim

EDITOR’S NOTE:
Jim died suddenly on February 7 of a perforated rectum. The police report says he was found with a Calloway extra-long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II golf club jammed up his rear end, with barely 5 inches of grip showing, and a sledge hammer laying nearby. His wife Terri was arrested and charged with murder. The all-woman jury took only 10 minutes to find her Not Guilty, accepting her defense that Jim, somehow without looking, accidentally sat down on his golf club.

Subject: liberals and conservatives

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for
everyone.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his
situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for
it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll share this with his friends so they can
have a good laugh.
A liberal will be”offended”.

Well, I shared it with you.

The free market economy covets a stable predictable environment with a minimal government interference in the form of regulation, taxes or ‘competition’.

Often this is contested by socialist thinking such as the current administration in Washington today, February 16 2010. This results in more regulations, ‘competition’ to keep private industry ‘honest’, and more taxes – initially for the rich and eventually for all to sustain the debt required to maintain the government presence in industry and socialist entitlements which guarantee socialist popularity.

Since the 2008 campaign we have been promised a better economy through ‘green jobs’. After the election, a stimulus package was passed which included many ‘green job’ items.

Here is a review of this type of ‘green job’ strategy by George Will as presented in Real Clear Politics:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/06/25/tilting_at_green_windmills_97168.html

George does a pretty good job of summarizing the situation. The only thing he left off is nuclear energy programs which are not green. I mention this because France is head and shoulders the leader in this area of power production. Isn’t France always opposing our use of fossil fuels and trying to encourage us to use wind and solar power? Why isn’t France concentrating on wind and solar power?

Bring on Obama and campaign promises of a new world with new ‘green jobs’ for all which are planet friendly and make all of us more fulfilled etc. etc. He may or may not believe this political tripe but here is reality. Upon election a stimulus bill was passed which included significant funds for ‘green energy’ projects. You know, the ones which will create those beloved ‘green jobs’ that are bankrupting Spain just now. Here is a story from WSB in Atlanta:

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/22508703/detail.html

This story reveals that we are spending the stimulus money on Spanish technology and hardware. We either do not know how to build wind turbines or we do not have time to develop efficient ones. Doesn’t a company do this in the USA – GE perhaps. You know, like the Spanish ones which are not providing economically justifiable levels of power for Spain while bankrupting the Spanish treasury by creating green jobs at a cost of $800,000 each. Only a socialist government would campaign for doing something that it turns out we cannot do and upon further investigation we find out that no one can do… Furthermore, have you ever talked to any0ne who lives near one of these wind farms. Perhaps we should build project housing out there. I assure the land will be cheap.

Finally here is an example of the death knell being rung by Obama and his Marxist/Socialist/DoGooders whatever…

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/feb/16/brick-by-brick-american-business-loses-edge/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_must-read-stories-today

Just another example of American ingenuity being forced out of existence by punitive government policy and attitude.

One last note, the trigger for this article, Organizing for America – Obama’s money and people raising email organization – recently brags …

“In just the last 3 days, OFA volunteers like you have pledged an incredible 4,000,000 (and counting!) hours to support members of Congress and candidates who fight for real health reform…” The lack of self thought and common sense among the American people is very disappointing. What is truly disheartening is the following: why can no one see the truth about Obama and his administration? Why can no one see the slippery slope they are leading this country down.

Whenever you want to answer the last question, here is what you can do. Keep a pad and pencil next to you where you watch the nightly news. Every time you hear a story about the current administration – good or bad – make a note. In the note grade the story on the level of criticism or praise of the current administration. Also note if either the Republicans or George Bush are mentioned in a negative manner. Whenever possible recall similar situations that George Bush endured during his 8 years and the treatment he received from the media.

I apologize. I must comment on the Harry Reid situation. If this was anyone from the centre to the Right, then we all know that Al Sharpton etc. would be screaming from the rooftops for their heads.

If the Left want to play the game on such an uneven playing field, then I do wish they would stop all the bellyaching when things don’t go their way. As the media spin is about 5 to 1, perhaps 10 to 1 in their favor, they do not have a reason to complain very often.

Bottom line is Reid and his high speed train from LA to Lost Wages need to retire. Now. In quiet or loud disgrace. Left choses.

I was no great fan on Trent Lott but his relatively harmless comment about what happened in 1948 seems pretty tame compared to light skinned this and negro lingo that.

Whatever.

Oh before I forget, Leader of the Senate is kinda a big political position, you think. He probably needs to visit abroad and speech for the country on a regular basis. At least he needs to make promises to major players in our economy and government. How does he make a poor choice of words when describing the next President of the USA. Is this too light a subject for him to put it into overdrive and actually think before he opens his mouth.

Most of us can get away with misspeaks and poor choice of words. When it is the Cabinet and the leader of the Senate and the President, isn’t time we elected people who thought it through before they opened their pie hole.

Just so the Poles would not feel left out, Obama included them in his recent re-evaluation of American commitment to the defense of Eastern Europe.

Quoting from hotair.com : “Vice President Joe Biden earlier refused to confirm to CNN that the George W. Bush-era plan was being shelved.

But he did explain the logic of doing so, saying Iran — a key concern for the United States — was not a threat.”

I must have misunderstood some of the news in the last several weeks. Did not Russia entertain Iran recently and promise to provide nuclear power plants, weapons and other goods and materials which the Iranians desperately need? Did not Chavez of Venezuela promise the Iranians refined gasoline to make up their current shortfalls? Did not Iran recently refuse discussion of their nuclear plans? Did not Iran recently suggest that they will participate in discussions of USA nuclear disarmament? Did Iran not repeatedly for years demand that promise the removal of Israel from the planet?

What part of this is not a threat to the USA and their allies? Perhaps we must interpret that Eastern Europe and Israel are not our allies, but Iran, Venezuela and Russia are?

But I am distracted. The Poles will receive their reassurances from the USA as we cut the legs out from under them and the NATO defense plan from an administration official. Alexander Vershbow is characterized by some as a rusophile. He certainly has some strong interest in Russia as a friend and equal as opposed to an enemy. Put yourself in Polish shoes. On the anniversary of the last Russian invasion of Poland you receive news that the USA is withdrawing strategic defense support from a pro Russia official of the current American administration.

If you think Obama tinkering with foreign affairs does not affect our relationship with our ‘allies’, then as Bill Cosby’s mother would say – You have another think coming.

Here is a highlight and a link to the immediate response to the recent shelving of radar and missile systems for Eastern Europe:

The Czech government had stood behind the planned radar system despite fierce opposition from the public. Some critics feared the country would be targeted by terrorists if it agreed to host the radar system, which was planned for the Brdy military installation 90 kilometers (55 miles) southwest of Prague, the capital.

The decision to scrap the plan is sure to have future consequences for U.S. relations with eastern Europe.

“If the administration approaches us in the future with any request, I would be strongly against it,” said Jan Vidim, a lawmaker with Czech Republic‘s conservative Civic Democratic Party, which supported the missile defense plan.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090917/ap_on_re_eu/eu_eastern_europe_missile_defense

Many have cried “…don’t shoot the messenger…’ and no one would blame Ellen Tauscher from claiming this overused cliche…

Quoting a USA Today article: “Prorok said Ellen Tauscher, a U.S. undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, would brief Czech officials in Prague and Polish officials in Warsaw later Thursday about Obama’s decision.”

Although Ms. Tauscher is an undersecretary in the Obama administration, one might question her choice as a delivery agent for ‘bad news’ to the Czech government which has recently supported the USA especially when compared to many other European countries. Her formal education in Early Childhood Education and recent appointment to her current position in the administration could undermine her efforts to placate the Czechs.
