Obama drops the proactive defense of Eastern Europe
If you think Obama tinkering with foreign affairs does not affect our relationship with our ‘allies’, then as Bill Cosby’s mother would say – You have another think coming.
Here is a highlight and a link to the immediate response to the recent shelving of radar and missile systems for Eastern Europe:
The Czech government had stood behind the planned radar system despite fierce opposition from the public. Some critics feared the country would be targeted by terrorists if it agreed to host the radar system, which was planned for the Brdy military installation 90 kilometers (55 miles) southwest of Prague, the capital.
The decision to scrap the plan is sure to have future consequences for U.S. relations with eastern Europe.
“If the administration approaches us in the future with any request, I would be strongly against it,” said Jan Vidim, a lawmaker with Czech Republic’s conservative Civic Democratic Party, which supported the missile defense plan.

Many have cried “…don’t shoot the messenger…’ and no one would blame Ellen Tauscher from claiming this overused cliche…
Quoting a USA Today article: “Prorok said Ellen Tauscher, a U.S. undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, would brief Czech officials in Prague and Polish officials in Warsaw later Thursday about Obama’s decision.”
Although Ms. Tauscher is an undersecretary in the Obama administration, one might question her choice as a delivery agent for ‘bad news’ to the Czech government which has recently supported the USA especially when compared to many other European countries. Her formal education in Early Childhood Education and recent appointment to her current position in the administration could undermine her efforts to placate the Czechs.
Welcome to eastern Europe Mr. Putin
Barry hits a home run in eastern Europe. By canceling our previous defense program for eastern Europe, our President has once again become the idol of the masses of Europe. He is so popular over there it is truly amazing.
“It is a big victory for the Czech Republic. We are happy that we will be able to continue to live in our beautiful country without the presence of foreign soldiers,” said Jan Tamas, an activist who had organized numerous protests. What the heck is this guy talking about. If he is representative of how Europe perceives our previous defense program, then let’s get everyone out of Europe right now. While we are at it, let’s use some stimulus money to lay out the red carpet for Putin.
I guess there is a lot of heavy metal contamination in the water supplies in Europe which has effected the memories of the citizenry. Were these people not the same ones who were protesting the oppression by the USSR just a couple of decades ago?
I guess I must be misremembering it.
New Black Panthers got out the vote, or?
What seems like trillions of dollars ago, we had a national election. During that election, a Philadelphia voting station was selected for some interesting Democratic activities. Capitalization meant. 2 members of the New Black Panthers party dressed fully black and waving night sticks encouraged people to vote the straight Democratic ticket. This activity was recorded by someone and was posted to Youtube. Video is very tame but just what were these people thinking… The police were called and charges were filed.
The court date arrived and 2 of the individuals chose not to appear. There was a summary judgment of guilty entered by the judge and the legal mill ground onward. Then along comes the DOJ. The summary judgment is reversed without cause and the charges are dismissed without cause. No trial. No I’m sorry. No I will never do that again. This is a null issue but the idea of intimidation must be dealt with very seriously.
Can you imagine the uproar if the KKK acting similarly at a voting station in Mississippi? Do you think the main stream media would ignore that story if the DOJ just tossed the summary judgment conviction aside without explanation.
How about a John Birch society …
Can no one see that this prejudice in the media is going to force polarization of ideologies. How much will the right tolerate before they take their issues to the next level. How do we convince the everyday people of the conservative right to remain calm and to not resort to lies and violence when they see the left lying and using intimidation without correction or penalty?
In all fairness, there were reports of conservative interference at some voting stations in the Carolinas and Minnesota.
Most of this issue starts to revolve around a voter ID card. I do not understand why there is resistance to the federal voter ID card. Please tell me that the following is not the main reason for the resistance – the Democrats believe that their supporters are more likely to have outstanding warrants and believe that voter registration with ID’s will become a police action to pick individuals who have outstanding warrants.
Please that is not the reason.
From little Acorns grow large unreported stories
How can the MSM be so aggressive on the attack of something like the health care reform town hall meetings and at the same time totally ignore the Acorn story which is in full bloom?
Check it out from Ed Morrissey…

N.I.C.E. is not nice
The United Kingdom has a single payer health care system. One of the integral parts of the system is NICE. The National Institute For Health And Clinical Excellence assigns a value to a year of life that is based on the age and existing conditions of the patient.
This is rationing.
The Comparative Effectiveness Research Commission for medical issues was funded within the Stimulus package in house bill HR1. It is not authorized yet but will be as part of house bill HR3200.
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has made his views known through numerous articles and activity on many commissions. However, lately he seems to be backing away from a previously hard line stance on forced euthanasia.
Peter Singer has made his views known on the subjects of non-voluntary euthanasia and infanticide.
These are the people who are forming the broad tenets of the Comparative Effectiveness Research Commission with regard to health care.
Death panels may be a little over the edge, but are these people representative of the views of the American public. Does Uncle Sam believe in non-voluntary euthanasia and infanticide if the economic values of those lives do not meet some arbitrary government standard?
States rights, Federal rights
Maybe I am confused but I thought that Insurance was a the purview of the individual states. As of last night it sounds like the federal government is taking over health insurance.
How would you like to be the insurance commissioner for Alabama after the President pointed out very critically the health insurance environment in Alabama? I have no ideal how efficient and effective the current health insurance is in the sovereign state of Alabama, but I would love it if it were exactly what Alabamians what. Where’s a poll when you need one?
